Cops: Thieves Steal TVs, Denied When They Come Back for More

Kmart employees thwarted pair's attempt to steal $500 in electronics about an hour after they walked out with two 32-inch TVs, police said.

Two men stole two 32-inch TVs from Kmart last week, but were denied by store employees when they returned and tried to steal $500 worth of more items later that same night, Parsippany Police said.

A store employee told Sgt. Sean Jasiecki and officers Christopher Cifaldi and Matthew LaManna the two men left with a large box at about 8:50 p.m., police said.

They carried it toward the bushes “in the direction of Rt. 46 West where the store employee heard a loud exhaust start and pull off in the direction of Rt. 46 West,” according to a release from Officer Remo D’Alessandro.

The employee then saw one of the men at a checkout counter about an hour later with a shopping cart loaded with a Craftsman air compressor ($119.99), a Plus Start car battery ($79.99), two Playstation 3 controllers ($54.99 each), a wireless Playstation 3 headset ($99.99) and a Black & Decker tool kit ($94.98), according to the release.

Police said the employee was standing in front of the exit and the man realized he was not be able to leave with the unpaid items, so he left and got into a beige Jeep Wrangler with a loud exhaust driven by the second man, police said. They fled the area and the employee called police.
