UPDATED: Alleged Drunk Driver Hit Utility Pole

A 26-year-old man was arrested in connection with a car accident Tuesday evening at Hillside Terrace near Springview Drive that knocked out local power for a couple of hours, according to a police report released today.

Responding to a report of a motor vehicle collision, officers David Roman and Richard Howell found a 2008 BMW that had collided with a utility pole and had caused severe damage to the pole.

Officers were stationed at the intersections of Allentown and Parsippany Roads, Parsippany Road and Misty Lane and Parsippany and Littleton Roads to provide traffic control since the traffic lights were not working, the police report said.

Ravi Amin, 26, of Parsippany, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license and careless driving. After being processed, he was released to the custody of a friend pending an appearance in court.
