As Filing Deadline Passes, Official Candidate List Not Yet Available

10 confirmed so far in municipal election race.

Township Clerk Judith Silver said late Monday afternoon that a full list of candidates running for town council was not yet available, but that the information should be available within the next week. The deadline to register to run was Monday at 4 p.m.

Seven Republican candidates and three Democrats have already announced their intention to run in this year's election.

John Fox, the current council president, Michael dePierro, the current council vice president, and Councilman Brian Stanton will run for re-election on the Republican ticket.  

Challenging Fox, Stanton, and dePierro will be , a Morris County Sheriff’s officer and Parsippany Republican committeeman, and , also a Republican.

 their candidacies. Annelise Catanzaro, a member of the Women’s Political Caucus of New Jersey and a fourth-generation resident of Parsippany, Janice McCarthy, who has served on the Board of Trustees for a local homeowners association and works in finance, and Tom Wyka, a PAL football coach and IT professional, will run on the Democratic ticket for the three four-year terms.

Republican Vincent Ferrara, who was appointed by Mayor James Barberio in December to fill a seat , who was elected to the Morris County board of freeholders in November of last year, will be running to finish the last two years of the unexpired term.

Challenging Ferrara will be from a Parsippany Board of Education seat.
