Candidates for Political Committees Released

The deadline to file for a Democratic or Republican committee seat was 4 p.m. Monday.

Despite a mistake that incorrectly kept some potential candidates from being permitted to file to run in the June primary election for a county political party's committee, many filed their applications prior to the 4 p.m. Monday deadline.

According to Business Administrator Jasmine Lim, those turned away after being told mistakenly that they did not have the needed number of petition signatures to qualify will get no extension if they missed the deadline.

"That comes from the county clerk's office," said Lim. "It's state statute, so it's out of our hands."

Every two years, the Democratic and Republican parties separately elect two committee members, one male and one female, from each of Parsippany's 39 districts by primary election for the general election. Any post-election vacancies are filled through committee appointments.

Editor's note: The names of Hank Heller and Tara Nazario of District 25 were not included in the municipal list of candidates released April 2, though they did file prior to the 4 p.m. Monday deadline. The candidates' names were added to the list April 3. The town has given no explanation as to why the names were omitted initially.
