Council Approves July 4 Fireworks

Independence Day celebration was one of a list of items that won approval with a single council vote.

Parsippany will get its rockets' red glare come July 4. On Tuesday, as part of its regular business meeting, the Township Council passed a number of measures, including a resolution allowing the town to go forward with its Independence Day fireworks display, which is usually held at .

According to the resolution, the annual event has been approved by  Chief Anthony DeZenzo, the town's fire official and the chief of .

Event details are to be released shortly.

The measure, passed as part of the council's omnibus consent agenda, won unanimous approval pending the issuance of a fire safety permit and other required approvals.

Other items on the consent agenda and therefore approved included:

  • an awarding of a bid by Precision Building and Construction LLC in Bridgewater to take on the third phase of interior restoration for the historic Bowlsby-DeGelleke house at 320 Baldwin Road; the company, whose bid was lowest, will be paid through the Morris County Historic Preservation Trust Fund and Open Space Trust Fund,
  • an endorsement of a state Department of Transportation $26 million plan to resurface 6.9 miles of Interstate 287 running from south of the South Street underpass in Morristown to the Littleton Road overpass in Parsippany; "substantial completion" is expected in May 2015, 
  • an approval of operating license renewals for the  and for the , and
  • a host of liquor license renewals for establishments throughout the township.
