Veterans' Day Ceremony

Parsippany’s American Legion Post 249, Rainbow Lakes Post 451 and Veterans of Foregin Wars Post 10184 will hold their annual Veterans Day Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2011 (the eleventh month, eleventh day, eleventh hour) at Veterans Memorial Park.

Bob Briant, Commander of Post 249, will lead the ceremony.

Guests include Rabbi Shalom Dov Lubin, Congregation Shaya Ahavat Torah; Rev. Jeff Edwards, United Methodist Church of Parsippany; Rev. L. Richard Hardy, St. Peter the Apostle Church; Col. Steven F. Cummings, Project Manager, Close Combat Systems, Picatinny Arsenal and the Honorable James R. Barberio, Mayor of Parsippany. Girl and Boy Scouts from Parsippany will be also participate in the ceremonies.

The laying of wreaths at the Veterans Monument will also be included. The Color Guards from American Legion Post 249 and V.F.W. Post 10184, will participate. “Thank You Soldiers” and “America the Beautiful” will be sung by our Girl Scouts, led by Christine Wilson and accompanied by Howie Reed.  Wilson will perform “The Star-Spangled Banner” & “God Bless America” with accompanied by Howie Reed. “America the Light of the World” will be sung by Frosty Lawson. Eileen White of the Daughters of the American Revolution will explain the meaning of Veterans Day.

A cannon salute will be presented by Lamb’s Artillery, a Revolutionary War re-enactment group. Taps will be played by Cameron Boone of Boy Scout Troop 173. A dedication of new pavers at the monument will also be included in the ceremony.
