Four GOP Councilmen Run for Re-Election

Before filing deadline of April 11, four Republican incumbents are in the race.

Four township councilmen have filed to run for re-election: Council President John Fox, Vice President Michael dePierro, Brian Stanton and

Calling themselves "Team Parsippany,'' the incumbents represent a range of experience on the council from dePierro, who has been a councilman since 1982, except for two years in 1998 and 1999, and Fox, who has served since 2008. Stanton was appointed in 2010 to fill the vacancy left when Barberio became mayor.

Also running for Ferrara's two-year unexpired term is Board of Education member Robert Crawford, also a Republican, who is .

The official deadline for filing for the June primary is April 11, but only five have filed so far, according to township clerk Judith Silver.

Democrats Tom Wyka, Janice McCarthy and Annelise Catanzaro, who ran unsuccessfully in 2009, will announce their candidacies on April 2 at an event held at the Knoll Country Club East.

According to a press release, the campaign for the incumbents will be run by Joseph Ricca, school superintendent of East Hanover. Morris County Sheriff Edward Rochford is "honorary campaign chairman."
