Mock Trial Puts Bullying Into the Courtroom

Students present case before judge in Parsippany Municipal Court

Students from 's Institute of Political and Legal Education presented "A Mock Trial: Exploring Consequences of Bullying" at Municipal Court Monday evening.  

The presentation featured students in the roles of lawyers and witnesses in a trial in front of the judge.  The trial culminated with a judicial decision and a discussion of the issue of bullying and the factors considered in the judge's ruling.

The Hon. Anthony Frese, chief judge of Parsippany's traffic court, presided over the proceedings. Morris County Prosecutor Robert Bianchi, who provided guidance to the students, offered thoughts on the dangers of bullying after the trial's end.

The event Monday night was organized by the Parsippany Municipal Alliance Committee, a group that for more than three decades has worked to prevent alcohol and drug use in the township and to teach youth to avoid destructive behavior. This was the second year for the MAC mock trial. .

Attending the educational offering were MAC members including Mayor James Barberio, members of the Parsippany-Troy Hills Town Council and the  and members of the public.
