Monday Mess: Rt. 80 Onramp Will Be Closed by End of Weekend, DOT Says

Access to interstate will be shut down for six to 12 weeks, DOT says.

The not-so-anticipated impending traffic jam that will close the Rt. 80 eastbound onramp from Rt. 202 in Parsippany is full steam ahead, and will be closing in the coming days.

According to New Jersey Department of Transportation Acting Communications Director Stephen Schapiro, the road is scheduled to close Friday, May 30, though “the actual closure may be Sunday night.”

Either way, Monday is going to be messy.

Parsippany police are advising specific alternate routes, including detours that will be posted, as the following:

There will be no direct access to the interstate highway during the construction, and very heavy delays are expected in the area.

The best route for motorists needing to access I-80 east, according to Parsippany police, would be directly from I-287 north.

Schapiro said any additional details would be released by the end of the week.
