Morris County Clerk Endorses Vigilante as Successor

Parsippany resident to challenge four other candidates in June Republican primary.

With less than a week until the primary election, Morris County Clerk Joan Bramhall has formally chosen to endorse Parsippany resident James Vigilante as her successor.

Vigilante, a former Parsippany Township Council member, is a nine-time decorated U.S. Air Force veteran and current Air Force reservist. He announced his candidacy for the county clerk's job in February.

"I would consider it a privilege and honor to serve my fellow county residents as their county clerk," said Vigilante during his candidacy announcement. "My military leadership and organizational skills combined with my governing and small business ownership experience is the perfect combination the next clerk needs to possess to pick up where Clerk Bramhall left off.”

Vigilante and Grossi, who is currently serving as a Morris County freeholder, have been at odds since Vigilante claimed Grossi's campaign manager publicly questioned his military benefits at a debate held at the Montville Senior House in April.

Several other candidates are running in the June 4 primary for the county clerk's position, including Republicans Jefferson Township Council member Michael Sanchelli, Denville accountant Zbigniew Nowacki, Chester attorney Laurie Bogaard and Democrat Terry O’Connor Redwine of Butler.

In her endorsement of Vigilante Wednesday, Bramhall said she has taken time to listen to each candidate express their views and plans for how they would approach the county clerk's position before choosing.

"Jim Vigilante has the experience and the qualities to govern the county clerk's office. He understands the financial challenges faced by the county residents as well as those being faced by military families," she said.
