Morris County Clerk Releases Town Council Primary Vote Totals

The Morris County Clerk's office has released unofficial vote totals for Tuesday's primary election. These numbers have not yet been certified and do not include provisional ballots.

For the Parsippany Troy-Hills Town Council, the Republican race gave apparent victory to three of the four incumbents running. Challenger Paul Carifi Jr. scored an upset, defeating Council President John Fox and another challenger, Roy Messmer. Barring any change in the totals, Carifi and council members Michael dePierro and Brian Stanton will face the Democratic nominees in the Nov. 2 general election.

On the Democratic side, the Vote for Parsippany trio of Annelise Catanzaro, Janice McCarthy and Tom Wyka bested Robert Hofacker and, if the totals hold, will take on Carifi, dePierro and Stanton in the fall.

In the race to fill the final two years of Freeholder Ann Grossi's unexpired council term, incumbent Vincent Ferrara defeated Robert Crawford. 

The county clerk totals indicate that voter turnout was very low: Out of 30,613 registered voters in Morris County, only 3,887, or 12.7 percent, cast votes. On the Republican side, 32.27 percent of registered voters participated. For the Democrats, only 8.57 percent took part in the polling.
