Mount Tabor School Project Receives State Grant of $264K

The funds will go toward window and door replacement at the elementary school.

The Christie Administration announced Friday that Parsippany's Mount Tabor Elementary School will receive $264,116 to replace aging windows and doors. The money comes from the Schools Development Authority’s Regular Operating District Grant Program.

The state grant will cover only part of the construction cost. Estimated program cost is $660,290. With the grant, the school district will handle the remaining $396,174.

The grant program is operated in cooperation with the Department of Education. The state has provided nearly $181.5 million in grants to local districts since May 2010. Projects that win grants are selected by the DOE. Funding for the grant program came through the sale of $500 million in bonds by the state's Economic Development Authority.

Parsippany Schools Superintendent LeRoy Seitz has not responded to Patch's request for comment.
