NJDOT Announces Road Resurfacing Project

Officials say the plan is to upgrade deteriorated sections of Routes 10, 46, 24 and 124.

The New Jersey Department of Transportation on Wednesday announced a regional maintenance resurfacing and roadway repair project in Morris and Union counties.

Beginning this week, NJDOT will mill and repave deteriorated sections of asphalt and concrete roadway at several locations in the two counties, including these on Morris:

  • Route 10 westbound between Route 202 in Parsippany-Troy Hills and Ridgedale Avenue in Hanover
  • Route 46 in both directions at various locations in Rockaway, Denville, Mountain Lakes and Parsippany-Troy Hills

Additionally, work will be done on different spots of Routes 24 and 124 between Springfield, Millburn and Chatham.

The approximately $10 million contract will improve motorist safety and extend the pavement lifespan along the full width of the roadway at each location, including all travel lanes, turn lanes, shoulders and median openings.  Curbing and sidewalk upgrades will be made at certain locations as well.

NJDOT’s maintenance contractor, Lucas Construction Group, Inc.,started initial construction activity on Route 24 earlier this week.   The work will be performed under the allowable lane closures schedule, maintaining at least one travel lane at each location during peak travel hours.  Access to all businesses will be maintained.
