Councilman John Cesaro hopes for the best on Election Day.

The gymnasium at is practically empty, save for a couple of voting booths, two poll workers and Parsippany Town Council member John Cesaro. The councilman is there to cast what will be only the day's 44th Republican primary election vote at the school.

In order to qualify for the Nov. 6 polling, Cesaro will have to be one of the top three vote-getters among a crowded field of nine Republicans vying for the party's nomination.

On the Democratic side, four candidates are running for the freeholder board.

"I'm hoping Parsippany will turn out to support me, but I'm not taking anything for granted," Cesaro said, adding that he has worked hard to get out the vote over campaign season.

But the campaigning, at least for the moment, is over, and the wait until the results come around 9 p.m. Tuesday is all that's left.

Next stop for the candidate is his home, to take on his favorite role: Dad.

"I've voted, and now I have to watch the baby so my wife can vote," he said with a chuckle. "Maybe she will vote for me. I'm keeping my fingers crossed."
