Parsippany May Rename Street to ‘Brand’ Health Tech Company

Ordinance approval would change Interpark Drive to IMS Drive.

An ordinance just three yes votes away from approval is currently on the table that would change the name of a private driveway to help clear up confusion and brand the site of a Parsippany company.

According to ordinance 2014:20, set for a vote at the township council’s Aug. 19 meeting, Parsippany may change the name of Interpark Drive to IMS Drive.

Interpark Drive was established in 1998 and accommodates Oak Lake, a community of condominiums that lead to office space in the rear of the plaza. Those office buildings are now being occupied by IMS Health Incorporated, a leader in the healthcare information and technology sector.

IMS Health was formerly located at 11 Waterview Boulevard, and rather than moving out of the municipality, has set up shop at the Oak Lake plaza.

The ordinance states, in part, a renaming for the following reason: “In order to minimize confusion of parties traveling to IMS Health’s new Parsippany office and to accommodate the desire of IMS Health to brand the site of its Parsippany headquarters, IMS Health has requested that Interpark Drive be renamed to IMS Drive.”

The ordinance continues, saying, “Whereas the township council desires to recognize IMS Health’s continued dedication to the Township and its community, as well as its decision to keep its corporate offices in the Township.”

The introduction of the ordinance was passed on July 15. The Aug. 19 meeting begins at Parsippany’s town hall at 7:30 p.m. and is open to the public.
