Parsippany Tech Firm Lands Big Defense Contract

The three year deal puts a DRS Technologies subsidiary in charge of helping protect U.S. Army units and bases.

Parsippany-based DRS Technologies Inc. reports that its C3 and Aviation Group was awarded a nearly billion-dollar defense contract by the U.S. Army. 

The division, located in Gaithersburg, Md., will be involved with the Integrated Base Defense System Force Protection Omnibus project. The multiple-award contract covers providing warfighters with modular systems, equipment and components designed to protect small Army units and large-scale military bases.

“This contract complements DRS’ legacy in delivering force protection and perimeter security systems to [the Department of Defense], the Department of Homeland Security and Allied Forces,” said a statement from Alan Dietrich, president of the DRS C3 and Aviation Group. 

The $997 million deal is for three years, but could be extended.

DRS Technologies' primary business is suppplying military forces, intelligence agencies and  headquartered in Parsippany, N.J., is a leading supplier of products, services and support to military forces, intelligence agencies and contractors around the world. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Finmeccanica S.p.A., an Italian conglomerate considered a leader in the global high-tech aerospace and defense industry.
