Nearly four months to the day after James Vigilante died of a heart attack, the former Parsippany-Troy Hills Township councilman will be honored by the town’s government.

Mayor James Barberio and the rest of the town’s governing body will be unveiling a plaque to memorialize Vigilante on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Parsippany’s town hall. The ceremony is open to the public and refreshments will be served.

Vigilante died at Hackensack Medical Center around 6 a.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at the age of 49. Earlier that year, Vigilante had run unsuccessfully to become Morris County Clerk, garnering the endorsement of Joan Bramhall, the clerk at the time.

Vigilante was a U.S. Air Force Reserves Master Sgt. and Morris County Republican Committee member.
