Parsippany Town Hall Goes Silent on Website’s Financial Records Request

Six unnamed employees overpaid in 2013, report says.

One of Parsippany’s news outlets has hit a wall of silence at the Parsippany-Troy Hills Township town hall, as its records request for financial documents was not fulfilled.

According to parsippanyfocus.com, the site sent an Open Public Records Act request to the township clerk, Yancy Wazirmas on Tuesday, June 3 after learning six township employees were overpaid in 2013, breaking a township ordinance.

Immediate access to budgets and financial information is ordinarily granted under the Open Public Records Act.

The records were not ready for Parsippany Focus some 26 hours later, despite town Chief Financial Officer Joe Kovalcik saying he would be working on them, the report said.

Follow up messaging on Wednesday and Thursday went unanswered, the report said, and as of Friday afternoon the documents had not been made available.
