PHOTOS: A Gallery of Parsippany Heroes

Shots by local residents of police officers, fire fighters, rescue workers, animal control specialists and more working hard to keep Parsippany residents safe from the storm.

Long before Irene dropped her first bit of rain on Parsippany, area first responders and assorted community agencies and organizations were hard at work preparing. During the storm many gave up sleep to help residents navigate a post-Irene world: pumping water out of basements, checking on elderly and medically challenged citizens, rescuing families from flooded buildings and making sure we don't venture into unsafe areas.

These are photos by Patch reader R. Antonio Ortiz. We hope you take a moment to enjoy them and get a glimpse of what our law enforcement, township workers, emergency responders, fire fighters, EMTs and concerned citizen volunteers do to make Parsippany great.

Did you take photos during and after Irene? We would love to see them. Please share them with Patch. You can upload them to this page just by clicking the Add Photos and Video link.
