Primary Elections Are Today: What You Need to Know

Parsippany voters hit the polls Tuesday for the 2012 primary election.

On the ballot are candidates vying for party nominations for president, the U.S. House and Senate, the state legislature and the Morris County Board of Freeholders and outright seats on the county Democratic and Republican party committees.

The victors in the nomination races take on the opposing party's nominees in the Nov. 3 general election.

In 64 percent of Parsippany's 39 districts, there are no Democratic committee candidates. That compares to four districts—about 10 percent—without GOP representation.

Voting locations will be open Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. 

Election day is also the last day for . Petitions containing a minimum of 10 signatures must be delivered by 4 p.m. to the Morris County Clerk's Office at 10 Court St. in Morristown. The deadline, the staff says, is firm.
