Route 80 Project Scheduled for Large Amount of State Funding

Resurfacing and bridge deck repairs would receive more than half of the $58 earmarked for Morris County.

A project to repair Route 80 in Parsippany is scheduled to receive a large portion of state funding, according to a press release from the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

The Christie Administration announced Friday that $36 million is earmarked for resurfacing and bridge deck repairs on the highway in Parsippany. The funding is part of the proposed $3.5 billion Fiscal Year 2012 Transportation Capital Program. The program has been submitted to the New Jersey Legislature for review.

Ten other capital projects in Morris County are scheduled to receive funding, with a total of nearly $58 million going to the county, according to the release. More than half of that will go to the Parsippany project.

The program represents the first year of a five-year transportation capital plan that Governor Chris Christie announced in January.

“New Jersey’s transportation system helps drive our economy,” Christie stated in the release. “The projects being funded in the FY 12 capital program reflect our focus on maintaining road, bridge and transit assets in a state of good repair and will benefit residents in every county throughout the state.”
