What will Chris Christie do?

National news organizations are spending a lot of time speculating as to whether Gov. Christie will toss his hat into the 2012 presidential race. Township Council President Michael dePierro told Patch that he hopes the governor will stay put.

"I think that Chris Christie has what it takes to be a good president, but I hope that he stays in New Jersey and finishes what he started here," he said.

Morris County Board of Elections member John Fox shared that sentiment.

"I hope he doesn't run, at least not yet," he said. "He's a strong governor and he has a lot to do. I think it will take more than four years for him to finish the job. New Jersey needs Gov. Christie here."

Mayor James Barberio won't speculate as to whether the governor will jump on the campaign trail, but he said he is in the state chief executive's corner.

"If Chris Christie runs for president, I will support him 150 percent," Barberio said. "I know Chris is a tough governor, but he motivates me. Even when he imposed that two percent tax cap, it was difficult to deal with it, but we did it. That's because of the governor's inspiration. He would make a great president, and he may be the only one who can beat Obama."
