BOE Has No Word from County On Budget Approval

Board meeting is tonight but the budget is still in limbo.

After submitting the preliminary school budget to County Superintendent Kathleen Serafino last week, the school board has received no further word on whether it will be approved, BOE member Andrew Choffo said.

Serafino had informed the board via a letter dated Feb. 25  that unless the BOE rescinded the contract of Superintendent of Schools LeRoy Seitz.

exceeds Gov. Chris Christie's  $175,000 salary cap for school administrators in districts the size of Parsippany.

At Thursday night's school board meeting, Choffo expects residents to raise questions and concerns about what Serafino's next move might mean for district, but there was no additional news from the county as of Thursday morning.

Many residents have voiced anger at past school board meetings that the funding could be witheld because of the Seitz contract and have urged the board to rescind.
