BOE Stays the Course for 2012-13

Reorganization doesn't mean much change for district, but can indicate stability.

With the s, this year's reorganization work at its May 24 meeting at  offered little in the way of change.

The law firm representing the school district will continue to be Weiner Lesniak LLP of Parsippany. Mark Tabakin and Kathleen Gilfillan will remain the lawyers specifically charged to work with the board. The firm gets $135 per hour for its work for the district.

Most of those working in school district leadership will remain in place for the next school year as well.

  • BOE members voted to retain Interim Business Administrator Mark Resnick as board secretary, public agency compliance officer and district purchasing agent.
  • Paul Saxton, the district's interim director of personnel, was voted in as affirmative action officer.
  • Director of Special Services Suzanne Olimpio was approved to continue as the schools' homeless liaison.
  • Buildings and Grounds Supervisor Thomas Gaveglio was okayed to continue as AHERA coordinator, asbestos program manager, integrated pest management coordinator, right to know officer and indoor air quality coordinator.

Additionally, the school board retained Parette Somjen Architects LLC as its architect of record. Under the agreement, the company will handle "multiple projects ... made from time to time by the board." One of those projects involves coming up with preliminary speculative plans for a possible upgrade of athletic facilities at Parsippany and Parsippany Hills high schools. The retention comes with no increase in the firm's hourly rates.
