Intervale School Celebrates Read Across America Day

Town leaders share their love for books and Dr. Seuss with students.

Kids love video games, but they still love books too, especially when they're written by Theodor Geisel, who was better known as Dr. Seuss. Friday marks the whimsical author's 108th birthday, and the super readers at celebrated the occasion--which is also Read Across America Day--to share their passion for books.

Representatives of the town and area organizations were on hand to read Seuss classics to Intervale students. Volunteer readers included Parsippany Mayor James Barberio, Parsippany Area Chamber of Commerce President Robert Peluso, Parsippany School District Curriculum Director Ruth Anne Estler and even Patch Editor Natalie Davis.

Reading specialist Rose DeFilippo, who oversaw the planning, said that . This year, she said the school was proud to be among the top five reading schools in the state.
