PTHESA Rallies Against Parsippany Privatization of Paraprofessionals

The New Jersey Education Association will hold a rally outside of the Board of Education offices at the start of Thursday's meeting.

Parsippany-Troy Hills Educational Support Association (PTHESA), an affiliate of the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) is planning a rally, Thursday evening, as the Parsippany-Troy Hills Board of Education plans to discuss a resolution to privatize paraprofessionals in the district.

“The Parsippany Board of Education is going to try to pass a resolution to privatize the paraprofessional teacher assistants and aides and bring in a private company,” said Vickie Walsh, UniServ Field Representative for NJEA. “Most of these people live in Parsippany and they are eliminating their jobs.”

“The reason is because they don't want to deal with the affordable healthcare act,” she added.
