According to the New Jersey School Boards Association, 468 school districts from throughout the state opted  in order to have the polling coincide with the already scheduled general election and allow districts to save the cost of mounting a separate election.

Another perq of moving the balloting: School districts that moved their election dates no longer have to put school budgets up for a citizen vote if they comply with the mandated 2 percent tax levy increase cap.
