Parsippany Fourth-Grader to Cheer Up Kids in Hospital

Friday is the last day to donate rainbow loom bracelets for his charitable cause.

Many have noticed a new craze among kids in the community: the rainbow loom bracelets made from multi-colored rubber bands.

However, one student found a charitable use for this new fad, which is fitting with Thanksgiving around the corner and the spirit of giving in the air.

Lake Parsippany School Jordan Rabadi, fourth grade, is collecting these bracelets made by other students and donating them to local hospitals as part of his project called ‘Rainbow and Smiles.’

His goal is to bring “rainbows and smiles to the sick children in the local hospitals in Morris County and the surrounding areas,” he said.

Rabadi is accepting bracelets, necklaces and rings and the donation box is in Lake Parsippany School’s main office.

“I have about 90,” he said, which is the total count as of Tuesday night at Lake Parsippany’s inaugural Art Gallery. He was invited by the school to have his own table at the gallery to raise awareness about what his cause.

The deadline is this Friday because “by Thanksgiving, we’re bringing this to the hospital.” One of the hospitals will be Morristown Hospital.

“Please help me wipe tears away and bring another smile to their faces even on a rainy day,” he said in a letter he was handing out at the art gallery. “Your wonderful creations will be brought to the hospitals and given to the children on Thanksgiving Day.”
