Parsippany School Board Picks New President, VP

The new year rang in new faces for the Parsippany Board of Education.

At Tuesday's reorganization meeting, Fran Orthwein was made president and Frank Neglia was made vice president. Here's a look at the members and the length of their terms:

  • James Carifi (2015)
  • Joseph Cistaro (2016)
  • Alison Cogan (2016)
  • Susy Golderer (2014)    
  • Gary Martin (2014)
  • Sharif Shamsudin (2014)
Alison Cogan, Joseph Cistaro and Fran Orthwein beat out five other candidates for three seats on the Parsippany-Troy Hills school board, each with a three-year term in November and Frank Neglia beat out Anthony T Deintinis for an unexpired two-year term available on the board.

Congrats to the new School Board.. Hopefully they will lead the district into the right direction and do what is proper for the children of Parsippany. However, maybe they should take another picture in some place other than a bar.. Don't know if this picture reflects what a school board should be. Granted, the vast majority of us all have the occasional drink. They are allowed to drink and there is nothing wrong with that. Just don't think it is proper for the new Board Members to be using a bar as a photo opportunity. With that said, best of luck to the board. Looking forward to see change in the future...
