25 Violence, 65 Bullying Cases in Parsippany Schools Last Year, State Reports

Parsippany was among the districts with the most bullying incidents in the state in 2012-13.

Officials from the New Jersey Department of Education released Thursday the 2012-13 school year Violence, Vandalism and Substance Abuse in the Schools Report.

Parsippany-Troy Hills had 7,147 enrolled students with 25 incidents of violence, 12 incident of vandalism, no incidents with weapons, 17 incidents with substances and 65 HIB (bullying) for a total of 119 incidents.

Across Morris County, there were 77,928 students with 289 incidents of violence, 101 incidents of vandalism, 32 incidents with weapons, 173 incidents with substances and 540 HIB for a total of 1,103 incidents. 

Parsippany was No. 15 in the 20 NJ School Districts with the Most Bullying Incidents for the 2012-2013 school year.

I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but I believe alot of it is an over exaggeration! I think our society as a whole has become too soft.

It's official. "Bully" is the most overused word of 2013.

John and 1fairguy, I suspect if you were the one being bullied, it wouldn't feel overused or over-exaggerated! And, you only have to read the comments on Patch a couple of times to see how cruel and critical many Parsippany adults can be.......it's not surprising the students can be just as mean. Nuts don't fall far from their trees???!! PS Seems to me, "Awesome" is the most overused word, Ughhh.

Kids can be mean but I believe a majority of kids are well behaved good kids. Less then 1 percent of people actually read and post on the patch. I'd say probably less then 1 percent of the students are actually bullies but we as a society like to throw kids in the same category when something happens. I guess it's probably why I do that for the teachers.
