Parsippany Schools Closed for Wednesday

National weather service says there will be snow accumulation of 8 - 12 inches for the Parsippany area. How much snow do you have outside your home?

Update: Schools are now closed

Parsippany Schools had early dismissal on Tuesday and will start school on a 2-hour delay on Wednesday due to the weather.

Gov. Chris Christie declared a state of emergency for New Jersey. The National Weather Service announced a winter storm warning until 6 a.m. Wednesday.

"Significant widespread snowfall will taper off overnight from west to east as bitterly cold air settles in," said the NWS for the Parsippany-Troy Hills area. There will be snow accumulations of 8 - 12 inches.

Northerly winds are 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 25 mph and temperatures are falling into the single digits overnight with a wind chill  as low as 15 degrees below zero.

So we got about 8 inches of snow and the leader of PTHSD thought there was a possibility of a delayed opening....they shut the school down for 3-4 inches of snow...April can't get here soon enough so this guy can exit like this snowstorm. I hope they go out of the district to get a new leader because there is no one in the district that can.

@Mike - Why isn't that a valid assumption? Rochester gets snowfall in excess of 3" 14 times per year. I'm certain they don't have 14 snow days. I can't understand this panic that comes every winter. The school buses need to drive slowly but they do the kids a serious disservice with these ridiculous school calendars.
