Parsippany-Troy Hills Students Celebrate Accomplishments

Local students earn scholarship and Dean's List achievements.

The following local college students really made the grade and have been recognized by their colleges for their efforts.

Shikha Patel, of Parsippany, earned the Actavis’ Dr. Allen Chao Scholarship from the Morris County School of Technology.

“Actavis, Inc. a leading global specialty pharmaceutical company, is pleased to announce its selection of Morris County School of Technology student and incoming Cornell University student Shikha Patel to receive a $5,000 Dr. Allen Chao Scholarship,” the company said in a written statement.

Patel, who will be entering her freshman year at Cornell in the fall, was among 10 students of Actavis employees across the country to be selected to receive this prestigious award. Patel is a Parsippany resident and plans to study Human Biology, Health and Society at Cornell.

“Shikha, through her commitment to academic and extracurricular excellence, embodies Dr. Chao’s vision,” said Paul Bisaro, President and CEO, Actavis, Inc. “We are pleased to award her this prestigious distinction and wish her continued success in her future endeavors.”

Cathleen McCarthy a 2012 graduate of Parsippany Hills High School has been placed on the Deans list at the University of Delaware for both the fall and spring semesters with a grade point average of 3.96 she is majoring in finance.

To meet eligibility requirements for the Dean's List, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a GPA of 3.33 or above for the semester.

The following students also made the University of Delaware's Dean's List:

  • Gabriella Campana, of Parsippany, NJ.

  • Claire Davanzo, of Parsippany, NJ.

  • Jesse Kovacs, of Parsippany, NJ.

  • Alyssa Letsch, of Parsippany, NJ.

  • Ryan Lewis, of Parsippany, NJ.

  • Angelica Suarez, of Parsippany, NJ.

  • Caldwell College recently named Christa Levitas and Gina Sanchez, both of Parsippany, students to the spring 2013 Dean's list. In order to achieve this honor, students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher and complete at least 12 credits during the semester.
