Daily Record: Attorney General Asks Court to Reject Seitz Contract

Paula Dow's office said contract was never approved by county superintendent.

The controversial five-year contract of Parsippany Superintendent of Schools LeRoy Seitz was dealt another blow Tuesday when New Jersey Attorney General Paula Dow asked the state Apellate Division to reject it.

Acccording to a story in The Daily Record, Deputy Attorney General Michael G. Walters contends that Seitz's contract was never approved by county superintendent Kathleen Serafino.

The Parsippany school last month to ensure the contract was upheld after Serafino ordered them to rescind it. The motion maintained that Serafino had approved the contract via e-mail, but never signed it. Dow's office argued that it had never been approved.

Seitz's contract exceeded the $175,000 salary cap proposed by Gov. Chris Christie, who sharply condemned both Seitz and the board for trying to circumvent the cap. The contract would pay Seitz $216,000 this year and $234,00 by 2015.
