Superintendent Search Kicks Into High Gear This Week

Two closed sessions to be held by board of education to find full-time schools chief.

After a week in which it needed two snow days and two delayed openings, the Parsippany School District will be busy once again – this time taking care of administrative business.

On Wednesday the board of education will meet in a closed executive session at 6:30 p.m. to conduct interviews for a new, full-time superintendent. The board will meet again on Saturday at 9 a.m. to conduct more interviews.

On Thursday, the board will meet to hold its regular meeting, but will start at 5:30 p.m. to conduct interviews for an architect. The open session is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.

Currently John Fitzsimmons is serving as the district’s interim superintendent and has been since former schools chief and oft-embattled Leroy Seitz resigned in March 2013.

A community survey regarding the search was conducted last fall, bringing in more than 200 responses.
