Cerrato Powers Parsippany in MCT Tournament

Pitcher strong on the mound, goes 2-for-3 with a triple and scores go-ahead run.

The baseball team held on to beat Mt. Olive 4-3 Tuesday in the first round of the Morris County Tournament.

IN SHORT
Mt. Olive led at the start of the game, scoring runs in the first, second and third innings, but lost the lead when Parsippany's Clayton Cerrato and Phil Tomaro scored in the fourth inning. Cerrato also scored the go-ahead run on an RBI single from Tomaro in the sixth inning, bringing Parsippany up 4-3, where the score would stand after a scoreless seventh.

pitched seven innings, striking out eight in the game. Offensively, Cerrato went 2-for-3 with a walk and a triple and scored the go-ahead run for the Red Hawks. During the seventh inning, with a Mt. Olive player on third and only one out, Cerrato kept his composure, striking out one, then forcing a ground out to end the game.

OTHER KEY PERFORMANCES
Phil Tomaro (Parsippany), 2-for-3 with the game winning RBI; Troy Hance (Parsippany), 2-for-4 with an RBI and two doubles; Pat Merrill (Parsippany), made a game saving stop at the plate when a Mt. Olive player attempted to steal home.
