Little League Regionals: Par-Troy East Loses Game 3 to DC, 8-2

Parsippany's All-Stars continue in the pool play East Regional tournament in Bristol, Conn., taking on Maryland Wednesday.

The 11/12 All-Stars went down to defeat against the District of Columbia team, 8-2, in Game 3 of the 2012 Little League East Regionals in Bristol, Conn.

The competition is not over, however, for the Parsippany boys. The team moves on to Game 4 in the pool play competition, and will face Maryland's All-Stars Wednesday at 11 a.m.

The Parsippany team started the first inning off by taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Under starting pitcher Sarong Amin, Par-Troy East was able to get two quick outs, a ground ball out to second base and another to third. Sydney Love-Baker, the only female player—who is known as a powerhouse for D.C., walked on a full count. The next Washington batter hit a line drive back to Amin for the final out.

Their turn at batt, Emil Matti led off with a single to left. Dan Ruggiero walked to put runners on first and third for Benner Uygun, who hit a fly ball out deep to center field, allowing the runners to advance to second and third. Following Benner Uygun, Scannel and David Ton grounded out but Matti scored, giving PTLLE a 1-0 lead at the end of the first inning.

The tables turned in the second.

The District of Columbia team started the inning with back to back singles. D.C. right fielder Issacs then hit the long ball, giving the opposition three runs. The next batter struck out and the following batter got to first base on a PTLLE error. The batter next up flied out to right field for the second out. Then, DC batter Furlong doubled home the runner and was driven home by a single by Baker-Love, making the score D.C. 5, Parsippany 1.

Par-Troy East brought in relief pitcher David Ton, who allowed a double that gave Washington another run.

In PTLLE's turn at ball, Vinney Prezioso popped out to second and Amin and Pico walked. Alex Cavaluzzon gounded out and moved the runners to first and third. Emil Matti hit a long fly ball out to center field, which retired the side and left the score at the end of two full innings DC 6, PTLLE 1.

D.C. added another run in the third inning, thanks to a Par-Troy East error. The Parsippany All-Stars were able to get a runner on in the bottom of the third, but to no avail. Finally, David Ton drove in Benner Uygen to get one run back. After three innings, the score was Washington 7, Par-Troy East 2.

The Washington team changed pitchers in the fourth, and the new mound man retired the side in order.

In the fifth inning, Par-Troy East brought Dan Ruggiero in to pitch. Ruggiero walked one batter, but retired the side.

PTLLE put on two runners in the bottom of the fifth, but failed to score, leaving  D.C. with a lead of 7-2.

In the sixth and final inning, D.C. tacked on another run on a double, single and fielder's choice. Par-Troy East was unable to come back at that point, failing to score, and leaving the final score 8-2.
