Par Hills Football Rally Falls Short in State Final

Vikings score game's final 13 points, but unbeaten Summit holds on to win its second straight state title.

The Parsippany Hills High football team nearly erased a 16-point deficit and pull off the upset of unbeaten and defending champion Summit in Friday night's North Jersey Section 2, Group 3 championship.

But despite reeling off the game's final 13 points, the Vikings' rally ended with an interception in the end zone with less than two minutes remaining in a 16-13 loss at Kean University.

Summit captured its second straight state title and eighth overall.

Summit jumped out to a 16-0 lead before Par Hills pulled to within 16-6 at halftime. The Vikings made it 16-13 in the third quarter, but the rally ended when the Hilltoppers intercepted the ball in the end zone on a fourth-and-12 play with less than two minutes remaining in the fourth.
