Little League World Series a 'Cool' Fan Experience

Par-Troy family and friends make trek to Williamsport.

The Little League Baseball Complex in Williamsport, Pa., comes as a bit of a surprise. Nestled within a small town of modest homes, tall trees and the Pocono Mountains, the huge complex encompassing two stadiums, vendor stands, athletic fields, parking lots and more can make one feel a bit off-kilter.

But not for long.

The Parsippany crowd is in Williamsport—really, it's called South Williamsport—to see the hometown team, the Par-Troy East All-Stars, take on San Antonio, Texas, in their first game in the 2012 Little League World Series.

The elements here are arranged efficiently: Parking lots flow into walkways that allow foot traffic and shuttle buses and carts. Whatever one's conveyance, the destination is the main fan area, where—after the metal detectors—there are concession stands, restrooms, souvenir shops, picnic tables, a misting area for those who wish to keep cool, and the stadiums.

Par-Troy fans have dispersed to buy food, check out T-shirts and get set for the 3 p.m. game feturing the Mid-Atlantic Region champion PTLLE All-Stars.

We already had a sighting of player Emil Matti being driven to a media interview in a golf cart.

Skies above are gray, so most of the New Jersey travelers are hoping rain will hold off until the game is over.

And everyone, of course, hopes for a PTLLE win. Well, at least the 132 people sporting Par-Troy East red.
