Nana Agyemang’s summer is shaping up to be pretty amazing.

As a member of the Morris County Track Club, the Parsippany boy recently competedin the USATF Region 2 Junior Olympic Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Richard Stockton College, and he left his mark for all to see.

Agyemeng competed in the 11-12-year-old boys division long jump event, and set a meet record of 5.64 meters, clearly good enough for first place. He also took first place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.52 seconds, and first place in the 200-meter race with a time of 25.42 seconds.

The top five athletes in each event/division advance to the 2014 USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championship in Humbler, Texas.

Agyemeng will be joined by a few teammates, including Matias Pellegrino, of Denville, who took first in the 13-14-year-old boys division long jump and second in the triple jump. Danya Spoor of New Vernon placed second in the girls 8 and under 400-meter race, and Elorm Akasreku of Landing, who placed third in the boys 15-16-year-old long jump. Rawle James Workman will also make the trip after placing fourth in the 11-12-year-old boys division long jump.
