Pastime Time Machine: Vintage Baseball Game Comes to Smith Field Park

Parsippany Recreation Department to host baseball double-header the way game was played 150 years ago.

Today’s baseball game is a much, much different product than how the sport was created 150 years ago.

To prove it, the Parsippany-Troy Hills Township Recreation Department will hold its annual Vintage Baseball Game on Saturday, Aug. 9 at Smith Field Park on Rt. 46.

The game is put on by the Morristown Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution and North Jersey Civil War Round Table. The Hoboken Nine will take on the Flemington Neshanocks in a game that will feature no gloves, no masks, no time outs, no designated hitters and no free agents.
