Par Hills Football Faces Undefeated Summit in State Final

Cheer them on. They play at Kean University on Friday at 7 p.m.

The Parsippany Hills High football team will face undefeated Summit High School at Kean University on Friday at 7 p.m.

“The school community couldn’t be more proud of our players and coaching staff for the time and commitment that they have made,” said Todd Ricker, Assistant Principal and Athletic Director of PHHS. “We have a remarkable group of student-athletes that are successful on and off the field.  Most of the team has played football together since they were young boys in the Little Vikings football program.  This is a close-knit group of players that continually push and support each other during the offseason, spend a great deal of time in the weight room and are a part of our wrestling and baseball programs.”

At the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 3 semifinal round, they served No. 1 seeded West Essex their first loss of the season and won 20-17.

“We play in an outstanding conference in the NJAC National division which has prepared us to compete against other tremendous teams such as West Essex and Summit,” said Ricker. “The football team has set the tone for the entire school in terms of athletic success and we hope that their accomplishments spark other sports for the upcoming winter season.”

Fourth-seeded Parsippany Hills HS crushed South Plainfield 26-0 in its first round match up of the NJSIAA Sectional Tournament and then beat fifth-seeded South Plainfield Nov. 16. Last week, Patch video interviewed senior quarterback Brandon Katzenberger and Senior cornerback/receiver Tommy Bluj duringtheir practice.
