Sheraton Parsippany and Chamber of Commerce Promote Pet Adoption

Event benefitting animal shelters in Madison and E. Hanover kicked off June drives underway to help pets

Dogs and their humans headed to the May 31 for the first Animal Well Fair. The event, co-sponsored by the hotel and the , served three purposes:  to showcase pet-focused businesses, bring attention to the need for good homes for dogs and cats and to raise funds for the Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter in East Hanover and Madison's St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center.

Patrick Athy, who heads the human resources department at the Sheraton and brought his own pup to the event, said the Well Fair was all about giving back to the community and showing love for animals.

"We're a pet-friendly hotel," he said, pointing out dog-walking paths around the Sheraton. "Animal shelters do an important job, so we want to do our part to help pets find good homes."

PACC President Robert Peluso agreed.

"We support the residents of the community and our friends, the animals, who are Parsippany area residents as well," he said, admitting that he is a cat person. "We wanted to give exposure to businesses who cater to pet owners, but we also feel it's important to support the efforts of the Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter and St. Hubert's.
