Discover Par-Troy History in Free Annual Tour Event this Weekend

The event is only this weekend.

How much do you know about the J. Smith Richardson History House or the Nicholas Vreeland Dutch Stone Out Kitchen, both in Towaco. This weekend, you can explore both of these historical features and many more.

The Pathways of History Museum Tour event began in 2010 to promote Morris County small volunteer run museums and historic sites which are admission free and self sustaining, according to a press release. The event has now grown from five to 15 towns in four years and some towns have more than one historic site.

This Morris County museum tour is taking place this weekend and will feature historic properties in Boonton, Boonton Township, Butler, Denville, Kinnelon, Lake Hopatcong, Mine Hill, Montville Township, Mount Tabor, Pequannock Township, Randolph, Rockaway Township , Roxbury, West Milford.

At the J. Smith Richardson History House, there will be a ongoing guided tours of the History House and from 2 - 4 p.m., there will be guided walking tours of Trinity Park.

At the Nicholas Vreeland Dutch Stone Out Kitchen, there will be hearthside food practices and receipts (recipes) along with continuous tours and architectural discussion.

It's free admission and you can stop by any of the tour locations anytime. Here are the days and times of the event:

  • Saturday—10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Sunday—Noon - 4 p.m.
