The Infamous Mobb Deep Comes to Town

Mobb Deep a infamous Hip-Hop group from Queens, NY, made a stop at the Stanhope House this past Friday. The night started out which a slew of local underground musicians who took the stage to get the crowd bumping. I think this was the first time I've seen a place so packed to the walls with people. Luckily I managed to work my way to the front of the stage where I held my ground for the rest of the night. It took till about 12:30 for them to get to the main entertainment but it was well worth the wait. Mobb hit the stage and the crowd went into a uproar. The energy that filled the room was nothing short of spectacular. Watching them up there brought back to days of bumping their music through my car's stereo and chilling with good friends. After what seemed to be a hour and half of me waving my hand in the air and jumping around, they concluded with their smash hit Shook Ones pt.2. As they walked off stage I was able to grab a fist pound and a hand shake before heading out for the night. While some might perceive these guys as hard core gangstas I saw them as two guys just doing their thing, performing music and most of all doing it for the people. While they could have played anywhere they wanted they chose a small venue in NJ for which I give them props.
