Neat to watch the hubristic Hugh hoist himself once again upon his own petard. Neither history norRead More historiography is dispositive regarding the debate over religion and the existence of a supreme being. The contention falls more productively within the bailiwick of philosophy tout court, Socrates rather than Clio, poor man. As for your faux lesson in the semantics of "mutual subjugation", I knew exactly what I meant when I used that phrase, namely that people of color and women were both subjugated by white males in Colonial America. Try consulting a dictionary once in a while, where you will find that 'mutual' means "having the same relation each toward the other: to be mutual enemies," as well as "of or pertaining to each of two or more; held in common; shared: mutual interests" -- the latter definition denoting the meaning I correctly conveyed to a literate interlocutor, alas not you, Hugh.
Hugh April 22, 2014 at 11:47 pm
Baptists were bitching about taxes and going to jail or moving west to escape them. EstablishmentRead More refers to the Church of England- the established church. The king had the right to appoint Bishops for the same and tax everyone of any conviction to pay for them. That was a major cause of the conflict. You continue your strawman argument, and you continue to ignore the fact that I'm not arguing faith while you are arguing history as a prop for your anti-faith dogma. Portundity. What on earth. Getting a bit red are we? Mutual subjugation- like mutual destruction- done one to the other. You garbled your syntax as your explanation makes clear. As a white male, I am bone weary of the whining of those, who unlike my ancestors, allowed themselves to be subjugated. That's why "proud as an Indian" used to be a common phrase in that era. The Indians refused to be enslaved. The whining is especially tedious when it comes from a white man. Are you one of those mewling pukes? SO sensitive, so caring, so guilty, so phoney.

As the Parsippany Republican Party Committeeman representing the 23rd District, I am writing to callRead More upon Ms. Nicole C. Green, Chair of the Republican Municipal Committee, to step up and use her leadership position to bring Mayor Barberio together to meet with Councilmen Carifi, Valori and Peluso to resolve the Township Attorney/John Inglsino issue). Given their deeply held enmity, these four elected officials appear unable and/or unwilling to resolve their personal and political differences leaving Parsippany without the leadership it needs and deserves. As the Parsippany Republican Party Chair, Ms. Green has a responsibility to use her good office to work to restore the rapidly diminishing faith of voters who believed in November that by casting a vote for the Republican ticket they were casting a vote for Parsippany's future good. Bringing these four politicians and the feuding Republican factions (they represent) together will be hard work However, it is work that must done. Hopefully, Ms. Green is up to the task.

The Council under the Faulkner Act gives a list of council actions, which may be exercised byRead More resolution. Makemyday, Assuming you're responding to a specific person, it would be nice if you addressed thatRead More person so he knew the post was directed at him. In any case, given the way you phrased your post, I'd guess it was directed my way. // So, I'll respond to you thusly: The deflection argument doesn't work. You know, the one where you didn't receive the proper results from Benghazi, Fast and Furious, etc., therefore Christie is not deserving of the tough questions because Obama, Holder and Clinton apparently got a pass. // My comment was merely a question I'd ask Christie and has nothing to do with anything or anyone who came before him. Hell, the question I'd ask Obama is, "What makes you think you're qualified to be President?" I mean, come on, community activist, two years as a senator, likely never got properly vetted because he was the first somewhat viable black candidate, and maybe a bunch of other things. // But, I've got to tell you that I'm sick and tired of people taking sides and the whole deflection argument. The idea of defending someone who has no idea who you are and who has done nothing for anyone who hasn't contributed to his campaigns and his party (which makes him like ever other politician out there) is something I cannot understand. Maybe you can enlighten me.

This is excellent proactive thinking on the part of whomever came up with the idea ( I'm sure itRead More wasn't Christi as he hates addicts and would exterminate them if he could)! It is true though that Narcan throws the addict into instant opiate withdrawal and they are going to be upset (not because there life was just saved) because coming down from a place where you feel safe (addicts turn to drugs because fear drives them) and will instantly be thrown into for lack of a better term "culture shock". Immediate withdrawal is incredibly painful and psychologically devastating. They will become violent, they will rummage the ambulance or hospital for something to stick in their vein and not necessarily because they don't want to stop us in but because addiction is a monster that takes over all rational thought and drives one to insane decisions. If they see a saline injection on a med cart you can bet they will steal it even knowing it won't get then high but to fulfill there ritual of abuse and injecting things into there bodies. I saw a lot when I was a kid, I'm in my 50's now and clean for over 20 years. I'll explain the allure of heroin as simple as possible for those that don't understand. Just please make an honest attempt at feeling the scenario I am about to describe. Imagine being swaddled in a soft blanket like an infant, in perfect grace and comfort dreaming of the most beautiful things your imagination can design. Your warm and filled with love and protection, your warm, the perfect temperature flows throughout your body and the music of the most spiritual nature lulls you in and out that beautiful dream your floating in. You feel what it must be like to love and be loved and then IN ONE INSTANTANEOUS MOMENT IT ALL GETS SUCKED OUT OF YOU and now your lonelier then you've ever felt, your I've cold with goose pimple skin, lights are cutting you like ginsu knives painfully cutting to the bone while voices frantically ask you questions about how you feel but you can't talk...if you open your mouth you'll vomit. You have an overwhelming fear of dread and isolation. You most likely evacuates your bowels and don't even care you just want a blanket and a shot of something to take all this overwhelming anxiety and shut it off. You went from heaven to hell in 3 seconds and within a few minutes if you have a experienced nurse, doctor, or emt they give you a safe shot of liquid valium put a catheter in your urethra and tell you to get some rest. That is what it is like to go from a non fatal overdose to a shot of narcan! If they don't instruct the people (cops, emt workers ) to check vitals and make sure that the person can't be stabilized before administering narcan then yes you will have violent episodes of panic and a addict patient just wanting to get out of the ambulance or wherever they are as fast as possible. I REPEAT MY INITIAL STATEMENT THAT IT IS A GREAT IDEA TO SUPPLY FIRST RESPONDERS WITH THIS MEDICATION BECAUSE IT WILL SAVE LIVES BUT DONT JUST PUT IT IN THE MEDICAL KIT AND THINK IT WORKS AS EASY AS GLUCOSE ON A DIABETIC. They need training on how and when to use it and how to defend themselves so a cop don't shoot an addict attacking him for waking him up from the safest, most comforting place he has ever been able to find. I doubt I got to many people to see the point of view from an addicts mind but in order to save them you need to understand them. I hope for the sake of all the children and older addicts they can make a narcan statewide program work but believe me it's not like giving someone an aspirin, glass of water and sayin see ya in the morning!
Mattie April 8, 2014 at 11:51 am
Thank you Lucio for taking the time and making the effort trying to help people really understand -Read More instead of merely judging. Paul Wolsko... isn't it sad that you can't look up your grandmother to find out when/where she'sRead More buried? That's because records weren't important back then - some folks were actually buried in huge holes to save space... In the town where I reside (Marlboro, NJ) there was once a mental hospital as well.. shut down in the 90's after rich folks didn't like the patients roaming the streets of Marlboro. We are fortunate to have a grave yard - however, there are several graves with the name of "John Doe" because they didn't have the actual name of the person who died. I find that to be beyond sad in this day and age... Don't you?? BTW - Marlboro Hospital has been 'debated' over for years... I believe Monmouth County purchased it with the hopes of putting in parks,etc... What a shame that these beautiful buildings will be demolished as well... instead of keeping one up as a 'memorial' to those who died there and the doctors and staff who served them!

He found her in filthy conditions and removed her from her chamber of horror......The building looms eerily and evilly reminiscent of an Edgar Allan Poe tale of mystery and macabre, silently screaming of shrouded atrocities and shame......For those wishing to preserve it's "beauty" and it's "art" then do so as a macabre with its ghastly air and grim atmosphere and its torturous towers, for after all, as a macabre work, it most evilly is a symbol of death....

@Cassandra, how is my comment any sort of a "hack" statement or attack on you? I askedRead More you a simple, legitimate question which you have ignored twice, leading everyone to believe that perhaps (!) you are the one who is being closed minded. For the third time, let me repeat the question: "...did you actually watch the program? It starts off with a story from the Asbury Park Press were Mayor Doherty says he didn't hear anything at the event. Then Christie's legal team get to him and he suddenly claims to recall hearing the conversation. Then by the end of the interview, he admits he may not have heard everything discussed. I'm not sure he could be more contradictory and, thus, essentially worthless as a "witness". Wonder what he'll say under oath?"
demosthenes April 2, 2014 at 12:09 pm
What's actually pretty funny is the Christie apologists are all over saying the Hoboken lawyer whoRead More was subpoenaed can't really be a "witness" because he didn't hear the actual conversation between the Mayor and the Lt. Gov. Yet Randy Mastro touts the Belmar Mayor as a "witness" because he didn't hear the conversation between Zimmer and Constable. You are wrong though Pops about Mayor Doherty being "worthless" as a witness. He can testify as to whether Randy Mastro and his crack team of ex-prosecutors were aware that he had not heard the whole conversation, yet mischaracterized his account in their Report. And he can testify about who asked him to take part in the cover-up.
