Candy Thief in Jail on $25K Bail, Cops Say

Police say the woman stole from and attempted to flee a Parsippany filling station and convenience store.

Parsippany Police say a Mt. Arlington woman is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail in the Morris County jail following an early Monday morning theft at the Exxon on the Run gas station at Parsippany Blvd. and Route 46 in which she allegedly stole candy bars. Stevie Verbesky, 27, is facing a robbery charge in connection with the incident, police said. At about 1:20 a.m., police were called to the station, which also includes a convenience store, in regard to the reported theft, which had just occurred, according to a police statement. Foiled Burglary Leads to Dover Man's Arrest

Police were tipped off when an Intervale Gardens reported a man's behavior to law enforcement.

An 18-year-old Dover man didn't get away with any loot, but was arrested on a burglary charge early Thursday near the Intervale Gardens apartment complex, according to Parsippany Police. Heri Abas was arrested and charged with burglary and underage consumption of alcohol. Police said no items were reported stolen in relation to the incident. After receiving a call about someone possibly burglarizing vehicles in the complex parking lot just before 12:30 a.m., officers arrived at the scene. Department spokesperson Ptlm. Earl Kinsey said the resident who made the call described seeing a male suspect trying door handles of several vehicles, and said the suspect entered at least one of the vehicles and left the area in a silver car. Burglars Hit Home During Owner's Vacation, Say Cops

Police encourage homeowners to use its free House Watch service if they plan a trip away from home.

A woman checking on a vacationing neighbor's home on Linda Street found the building had been burglarized Saturday evening, say Parsippany Police. According to a police statement, the woman said that she stopped by the house just before 6 p.m. and found the front door had been forced open and the upstairs bedrooms ransacked. Parsippany Rescue and Recovery secured the home's broken door, said department spokesperson Sgt. Yvonne Christiano. Parsippany detectives are investigating the incident, she said, adding that the Morris County Criminal Investigative Division assisted in processing the crime scene. Burglary Victim's Beau Charged in Crime, Cops Say

Parsippany Police say two men and one juvenile are facing charges following a burglary last Friday evening at a Sweetwood Court home. Among those arrested in the incident is 18-year-old Raymond Jaquez of Paterson, the boyfriend of one of the residents of the house police say was robbed.  A 17-year-old was detained at the Morris County Youth Detention Center and was charged as a juvenile with burglary, theft of moveable property and conspiracy, according to Christiano. Jaquez faces charges of burglary, theft of moveable property and conspiracy and is being held at the Morris County Correctional Facility in default of $10,000 bail with no 10 percent option, the statement said. Jewelry Stolen in Lake Shore Drive Burglary, Cops Say

Resident returned home Tuesday evening and found master bedroom ransacked, police said.

Jewelry was stolen from a Lake Shore Drive residence Tuesday night, Parsippany Police said. Officer Ross Cooper responded to the Lake Hiawatha home after receiving a report of the incident at about 6:15 p.m., according to a statement released Wednesday by Officer Earl Kinsey. A resident returned home and found the master bedroom ransacked and jewelry missing, the statement said. Police believe entry to the house was gained via a basement window, according to Kinsey, a department spokesman who said it was not immediately known how much the jewelry was worth. $2K Industrial Tool Allegedly Stolen From Business

Reportedly stolen from Sound Waves' garage.

Parsippany Police are investigating an apparent commercial burglary believed to have occurred during the overnight hours of Sept. 19 at Sound Waves at 1200 Route 46. Police said the person who called in the report said he found damage to the lock on the business' garage entrance door. An industrial welder valued at $2,000 was reported stolen from the garage, police said. The crime is currently under PPD investigation. NY Man Accused of Stealing From Auto Dealership

A New York man has been released on bail after being accused of stealing parts from a Route 46 dealership and trying to elude an officer over the weekend, Parsippany Police said. Tamer Morra, 36, of Staten Island, N.Y., was charged with burglary to auto, theft of movable property, eluding, possession of a prescription legend drug (Oxycodone) without a valid prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of burglary tools (a screwdriver), possession of a controlled substance in a vehicle, careless driving and failure to display a license plate. More Than $2K in Landscaping Equipment Stolen

Incident occurred over the weekend on New Road.

The Parsippany Police Department says $2,200 in equipment was stolen sometime over the weekend from a landscaper's trailer on New Road. Police said the crime was reported Monday morning. The victim told Officer Brian Conover that between 3 p.m. Saturday and 8:45 a.m. Monday, equipment including two leaf blowers, two line trimmers and one hedge trimmer had been taken from the locked trailer, police said. Conover found that the trailer's lock had been cut off, according to police. Police: Cash, Jewelry Stolen from Dogwood Lane Home; Door Smashed

Parsippany Police are investigating a burglary of a Dogwood Lane residence the department says took place last Friday evening. Police responded to an activated burglary alarm at the house just after 9 p.m. and found a smashed glass door in the rear of the building, authorities said. Sgt. Paul Schulze and Officer James Schicke searched the home in hopes of finding a perpetrator, but no one was present, according to police. At the same time, police set up a perimeter around the area, getting an assist from the Morris County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit. The police dog was able to track the scent of an individual from the back yard of the home to Woodcrest Road, but there, officials say the scent was lost, most likely due to the perpetrator …

Cops: Door Smashed, Jewelry and Cash Taken

Parsippany Police and a county K-9 unit were unsuccessful in search for intruder.

A sliding glass door was smashed and cash and jewelry were stolen from a Dogwood Lane home last Friday night, Parsippany Police said Thursday. The home's burglary alarm was activated, but when Sgt. Paul Schulze and Officer James Schicke arrived at the scene at about 9 p.m., there was no one inside the residence, police said. Police established a perimeter around the area with assistance from the Morris County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit. The police dog was able to track the scent of an individual through the backyard of the Dogwood Lane home to Woodcrest Road, but then lost the scent, police said. I probably imagine the police showing up a couple of hours later. Police do not regard burglar alarms on the top of their priorities due to a large number of false alarms.
