A Parsippany man was arrested after a neighbor tipped off police to a burglary in progress to an unoccupied home on Lake Court Friday night. Casey Cullinan, 26, was charged with burglary after he was found hiding in an attic when officers searched the home Friday night shortly after 6:30 p.m., according to a statement released Wednesday by the Parsippany Police Department. Police were alerted to the burglary by a neighbor, who reported seeing a man inside the residence when he knew the owners were not home, police said. Responding officers established a perimeter around the home and the owner was contacted and confirmed no one had permission to be inside the residence, police said. The Parsippany-Troy Hills Township Police say an investigation is underway in connection with a burglary reported Tuesday at a home on Crown Point Road. Police said that just after 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers were dispatched to the residence. While there, the homeowner told authorities that they returned home after several hours out to find a jewelry box lying on a bed in the master bedroom. A department spokesperson said it is believed a suspect or suspects entered the home through a rear sliding door. Jewelry of unknown monetary value and $1,000.00 in cash was reported missing, according to police. Parsippany Police say one or more suspects got away with jewelry after a reported residential break-in and burglary on Wood Glen Way last Thursday. According to police, a witness told Officer Robert Whiteman and Detective Joseph Puso that the door of their neighbor’s home was open and appeared to have sustained damage. Police determined that the front door of the residence had been shouldered open. Continuing their investigation of the home, police said no suspect or suspects was found, but that the master bedroom appeared to have been ransacked. Authorities want to know who is taking wheels off of parked cars in Parsippany.
The Parsippany Police Department is investigating a sixth recent case involving tires stolen off of a parked vehicle. Police said the most recent report was called in Sunday at around 10 a.m. Officer William Stone responded to the parking lot of the Colonial Heights apartment complex to investigate a report of wheels stolen off of a 2012 Honda Accord. The vehicle's owner told the office that the car was discovered sitting on top of three landscaping blocks, police said. The value of the missing tires is said to be approximately $4,000. Authorities believe the incident occurred sometime after 8 p.m. Saturday. A jewelry box was reported stolen Wednesday from a Parsippany Boulevard home, Parsippany Police said Thursday. A resident at the home told police that he returned home at about 11 p.m., and found items including a box of jewelry missing from the master bedroom, Patrolman Earl Kinsey said. Kinsey said the value of the items was not known at the time that the report was filed. Police said a probe is underway and in the hands of Det. Darren Theobald, of the Parsippany Police Department’s Investigative Division. Police are also investigating the attempted break-in of an Aida Court home where three masked men were seen on the property by a neighbor Wednesday evening.
