Police: Woman Drove Wrong Way on I-287

The police found her car crashed with the airbags deployed, but the driver had fled the scene.

A Dover woman was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when she drove the wrong way on Interstate 287, crashed her vehicle in Parsippany and fled the scene before being apprehended early Sunday morning, State Police said. Natasha Salazar, 19, was charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving, failure to report an accident, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, obstructing the passage of other motor vehicles, willful abandonment and other lesser motor vehicle offenses, according to State Trooper Christopher Kay, of the Netcong barracks. According to Kay, troopers received a call after midnight that a car was traveling north on the southbound lanes of Interstate 287. The troopers found the car …

First of all my opinion on this whole thing is ....she shouldn't have even got into her vehicle and drove point blank ! When I have a drink or two and feel tipsy I won't even get behind my wheel till I know I'm capable to drive....I am a mother ,a daughter ,a sister ,a niece ,a aunt & an a amazing friend !! Morning Crash Blocks Lanes on I-80 in Parsippany

Police said no serious injuries were reported.

Traffic was slowed in all but the left lane of Route 80 in Parsippany by the exit for Route 287, mile marker 43.4, Monday morning due to a one-car accident where no serious injuries have been reported, according to New Jersey State Police. The accident occurred around 10:45 a.m. A police dispatcher said he did not have information about whether there were any passengers in the vehicle or information about the driver, but said the accident occurred near the construction zone. Police also said the car is being towed from the area. No additional information was available.
