The Blood Center of New Jersey Bloodmobile was back in Parsippany Tuesday to accept donations from community members. The converted bus made a stop at medical website MD Online's Par-Troy headquarters for the company's first-ever employee blood drive. The Parsippany Jersey Mike's Subs franchise on Smith Road is giving back again. The famously philanthropic chain is in the midst of its annual March Month of Giving event, which nationally benefits 86 separate charities. One of the charities is the Boys and Girls Clubs of New Jersey. Throughout the month of March, individuals can donate to the organization at the Jersey Mike's Subs shop in Parsippany. Actavis, a global pharmaceutical firm based in Parsippany and until January known as Watson Pharmaceuticals, has a huge mission for 2013: raising funds and building awareness for the March of Dimes. Following Superstorm Sandy’s destruction, Parsippany-based Evonik Corporation has donated $10,000 to help with disaster relief efforts. Parsippany's Chamber of Commerce seeks to raise awareness of the deadly disease and support services for those who suffer from it.
The Parsippany Area Chamber of Commerce and the Parsippany Area Visitor Center are partnering to bring attention to prostate cancer, which kills about 32,050 men in the U.S. each year, according to the American Cancer Society. On Feb. 4, the groups present the first annual Parsippany Night Out, which will be held at the Holiday Inn of Parsippany, 707 Route 46 East from 6-8 p.m. The event, which benefits the Dean and Betty Gallo Prostate Cancer Center and the Cancer Institute of New Jersey, is designed to give people an evening of food and entertainment with a silent auction. The national Human Rights Campaign gives Parsippany company a perfect score on its Corporate Equality Index.
Parsippany-based Wyndham Worldwide, one of the world’s largest hospitality companies, is being recognized as one of the nation's Best Places to Work for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Equality. That's according to the Human Rights Campaign, a Washington, D.C., civil rights organization. HRC gave Wyndham a perfect score of 100 on the group’s Campaign’s annual Corporate Equality Index. The CEI is considered the premiere national benchmark for LGBT workplace inclusion and provides an in-depth analysis and rating of large U.S. employers and their policies and practices pertinent to LGBT employees.
