Parsippany Police say a Newark man was charged with multiple traffic offenses and with driving while intoxicated following a two-car accident on New Road Saturday night. Francisco Gervais, 49, suffered minor facial injuries in the collision and was treated at a local hospital, according to a police statement. Sgt. Yvonne Christiano said Gervais was driving a 1994 Subaru that was traveling south on New Road when it crossed the center lane and struck a 2008 Infiniti going north. A Wayne man was charged with driving while intoxicated after his erratic driving caught the attention of Parsippany Police last Friday, according to a department statement. After getting a report of a possible drunken driver, at about 9:49 p.m., Officers Peter Kolln and Robert Smolen headed to Route 53 south, where they saw a red 1998 Toyota SUV “fishtail” as it drove toward the officers, Sgt. Yvonne Christiano said. After stopping the driver, identified as 28-year-old Michael P. Durant, police placed him under arrest. Subsequently, Christiano said, they discovered that the man had an active DWI arrest warrant in the amount of $1,114 out of Wayne on a DWI charge. Morristown man was charged with DWI and cell phone use while driving.
Two vehicles stopped at a traffic signal at Route 10 and Powder Mill Road were involved in a ricochet crash thanks to a motorist now charged with driving while intoxicated and using his cell phone, say Parsippany police. A 2012 Hyundai being driven by Morristown resident Jorge I. Arboleda-Hernande, 32, struck a vehicle sitting at the stop light just after 11 p.m., police said. That car, in turn, struck the vehicle ahead of it that also was waiting for the light to turn green, police said. Arboleda-Hernande was arrested and charged and released to the custody of a friend, police said.

Montville man faces charges after being found allegedly at fault for an accident.
Parsippany Police say a Montville man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after a motor vehicle accident in the area of Lake Shore Drive near Roosevelt Avenue in Lake Hiawatha at about 10:45 p.m. Sunday. Michael Quinn, 55, was determined by police to be at fault in the crash, in which his green four-door Nissan crashed into a second vehicle as it was backing into a driveway, according to a police statement. Quinn was charged with DWI and reckless driving, and was released to the custody of a family member, police said. According to police, there were no injuries in the incident.

Parsippany Police say drug paraphenalia was found in a Boonton man's vehicle.
A Boonton man is facing charges including driving while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance following a Sunday night motor vehicle crash, Parsippany Police said. Christoph Waldron, 44, was charged with DWI, refusal to submit a breath sample, failure to observe a traffic signal, reckless driving, possession of controlled substances in a motor vehicle, marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. According to a police statement, shortly before 9:30 p.m., Waldron allegedly made a left turn on red from Cherry Hill Road onto Interpace Parkway and collided with a 2010 Chevy that had the right of way. A defense attorney from Lake Hiawatha who allegedly injured another driver in a June traffic accident in Parsippany, was indicted on a charge of driving while intoxicated and assault by auto, NJ.com reports. Walter Laufenberg, 53, a former Parsippany municipal prosecutor now working for Morristown law firm Gold, Albanese and Barletti, allegedly injured 26-year-old Randolph resident Ahmed Shoeira on June 12. The accident reportedly took place on Littleton Road, just north of Brooklawn Drive, when Laufenberg, driving north on Littleton, allegedly crossed the double line and struck the other driver's vehicle. Wharton man received summonses.
Parsippany Police say a Wharton man faces a drunk driving charge after flipping his vehicle early Thursday morning on New Road. Officers were called at about 4:07 a.m. with a report of an upside-down 1998 green Subaru sitting on the front lawn of a New Road residence, police said. The vehicle was unoccupied, police said, but the driver, 23-year-old Terrance E. Sanders, was at the scene. According to police, Sanders was examined by members of the Rockaway Neck First Aid Squad and afterward was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. The Wharton resident also was issued summonses for DWI and careless driving, police said.

Discrepancies have been found in toxicology results for a Parsippany woman accused of killing an East Hanover man with her car in May, according to the attorney representing her. Gerald Saluti brought up a difference in the blood alcohol content of two results at status conference for his client, Vanessa E. Brown, on Monday morning at the Morris County Courthouse in Morristown. Saluti also said on Monday he planned to challenge the prosecution's contention that Brown had ingested cocaine, while the prosecution said it has information that Brown had been involved in another accident prior to the fatal crash. Authorities charge Denville man with DWI and possessing drugs not prescribed to him.
A heated exchange between two men in the parking lot of Hoover's Tavern on Aug. 12 resulted in a Denville man being arrested for driving while intoxicated, according to Parsippany Police. Police said that while he was on patrol on Route 53 just before midnight, Officer Michael Sprung saw two men who appeared to be yelling at each other in a parked vehicle in the rear lot of the Sylvan Way bar. Sprung turned his patrol car around and spotted the same vehicle in the lot of a nearby 7-Eleven, police said. The policeman then spoke with the driver, who was identified as 40-year-old Kirk Kolbjornsen of Denville, who was found in possession of prescription medication not prescribed to him, police said. A Parsippany man faces charges of driving while intoxicated and careless driving after being involved in a motor vehicle crash last Thursday night, according to the Parsippany Polic e Department. Mario Schultheis, 24, was driving a vehicle officers found stopped 25 feet away from a damaged parked car near Knoll Road and New England Drive, police said. Police said Schultheis' vehicle had damage that corresponded to the damage on the parked vehicle. After an investigation, police said Schultheis was arrested and processed. The Parsippany resident was released pending a court appearance, police said.
